JIM RIFFEL BIO:
A graduate of the prestigious NYU Film School, Jim Riffel has written and directed 10 feature films.
“Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son…Part 2,” a movie he made in a weekend on a shoe-string budget, was called “a cult masterpiece” by The New York Times.
His feature, “Mass of Angels” won the Grand Prize at The Big Apple Film Festival and was described by The Northampton Film Festival as being “reminiscent of the finest works of Roman Polanski and David Lynch.”
“Black-Eyed Susan,” a black-and-white stylistic murder mystery he wrote and directed, won The Grand Jury Prize at The Garden State Film Festival.
His book “The Video Detective’s Guide to the Top 1,000 Films of All-Time” was published by Ecco Press, an imprint of Harper Collins.
He is a published poet and co-wrote the music for “Black-Eyed Susan” which was nominated for Best Soundtrack at the Melbourne Film Festival.
Most recently, his screenplay, “The Murder Trust” was optioned by Academy Award Nominated actor Harvey Keitel (“Reservoir Dogs,” “Pulp Fiction”) and was recently in development with Academy Award Winning actor Ethan Hawke (“Before Sunrise,” “Training Day”). This project is currently in development.
In addition to his writing and directing he has recently began creating functional art sculptures and in the last two years has completed over 100 pieces. In 2015 he had his first show at The Summit Medical Group Art Gallery in New Jersey.
